flexibility and scalability of public cloud. the security and management of private cloud.
Get the best of both worlds with HCI Cloud. Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) combines the benefits of both private and public clouds. While providing own dedicated hardware, it allows flexible scalability, after an initial commit level. HCI is based on software defined infrastructure, that uses virtualization for every aspect of, a traditionally, hardware-based server system. In this more simple system, the HCI contains virtualized processing (hypervisor), software-based storage and virtual networking.
How is it different from traditional?
The main difference between a traditional converged infrastructure (CI) and the HCI is that the latter also uses virtual systems for storage networking and infrastructure within a hypervisor, instead of the traditional hardware option.

Key features
- Easy to scale up or down by adding/removing nodes
- Simplified – Storage is included in the nodes
- Possibility for higher IOPS
- For medium sized data banks requiring fast read and write performance
- Simple management with Ficolo Cloud Management Platform (CMP)
Ficolo HCI Platform
Ficolo offers an HCI based solution, in which the customer subscribes to a private HCI Cloud, with virtualized, dedicated hyper-converged capacity. The Ficolo offering includes redundant firewall services, virtual network services and switches, as well as the capacity and storage infrastructure. The service is produced with VMware and vSAN software in a virtualized, private cloud. Ficolo recommends that the customer also takes on a multi-cloud service, along with the HCI to provide structured sub-clouds to host services for their own customers. The HCI does not exclude other cloud services offered by Ficolo and even a separate storage archive can be added to the system to function as a low usage archive.
The HCI platform is most useful and most suited to be used when the Customer doesn’t have massive amounts of archived data which is rarely accessed, but does require the data to be rapidly retrieved and saved within the system. The system can be optimized for performance or for capacity. When using the Performance option, the system requires double the amount of storage capacity as a fault tolerant, redundancy measure. The customer can choose to reduce the used resources by compression and deduplication, but this will be done with a CPU process within the VM, using its resources which reduces the system’s overall read/write performance (IOPS).
Managed with Ficolo Cloud Management Platform
Ficolo Cloud Management Platform (CMP) allows full hybrid multi-cloud control and is an easy way to manage several public and private clouds with only one solution. This solution significantly improves the usability and cost-effectiveness of cloud services and reduces the risk of cloud-lock.
